Based on the geographical variation of Crohn’s disease (CD) and Ulcerative colitis (UC) in such countries as France and the United States, it seems quite reasonable that higher serum 25(OH)D levels would reduce the risk of CD and possibly UC.
Based on findings for other diseases, the level for a good level of protection is in the range of 40-60 ng/mL.
